Heavy rains destroys food gardens for 400 people, call for help

About 400 residents from different villages in Bulanga town council in Luuka district who have lost their food plantations to heavy rain hailstorm which hit their crops have appealed to their local leaders and ministry of disaster preparedness to intervene and give them some relief

On Saturday, heavy rains characterized by hailstorm hit various villages in Bulanga town council in Luuka district and left locals in tears after losing their food plantations with the most affected areas being in Mawundo parish which has villages of Nabukalu,Budebera,Kyankuzi,Walibo among others.

Some of the crops destroyed include maize, cassava, beans, passion fruits among others 

Hamuza Batambula,a private school teacher who had his hopes left in the maize plantation, expressed dismay in the disaster that has left him hopeless after the struggle he is going through in this lockdown hence requested the local leaders and ministry of disaster preparedness for urgent  intervention 

Grace Waiswa, also a private school teacher in Walibo village lost his 2 acres yard garden of passion fruits and 4 acres of Maize regretted the incident where she had expected to atleast harvest 200 bags of passion fruit.

Many Other victims narrated their ordeal and reiterated their urge to local leaders and government for a helping hand.

Meanwhile,  Mawundo parish chairperson Aron Muzaya said that over 400 locals were affected thus urged government and fellow local leaders to come to their rescue.
