By Mukembo Wilfred

It’s now nolonger a secret that the United States of America government has issued financial sanction against the Chief of Military Intelligence CMI Maj. Gen. Abel Kandiho after it notified the Uganda People’s Defense Forces UPDF over the same.

The notification of the UPDF has been confirmed by the defense spokesperson Brig. Gen. Flavia Byekwaso in a statement issued on Tuesday evening. “ We have been officially notified about the unilateral financial sanctions against Maj. Gen. Abel Kandiho the chief of military intelligence – UPDF by the united states of America Government.”

Byekwaso expressed disappointment in the act of the USA government which she said they consider it friendly to the country and UPDF in particular.

“As a country and UPDF in particular, a reputable government institution, we are disappointed that such a decision could be made by a country we consider friendly, a partner and a great ally, without due process and in total disregard of the principle of “fair hearing” coupled with failure to make the the necessary consultation.”

She further said that going forward, UPDF will be seeking clarification from the USA government and authorities to be able to determine the way forward.
