The Apostolic Nunciature has on Thursday afternoon announced that the Holy Father Pope Francis has appointed, His Lordship Paul Ssemogerere, who until now Bishop of the Diocese of Kasana-Luweero and Apostolic Administrator of the Kampala Archdiocese as the new Archbishop of the same archdiocese..
The Archdiocese of Kampala was vacant after the sudden death of His Grace Archbishop Cyprian Kizito Lwanga on 3th April 2021.

Most Rev. Paul Ssemogerere
Curriculum Vitae
The Most Rev. Paul Ssemogerere was born on 30th June 1956 in Nkumba, Kampala Archdiocese.
He studied Primary School in Kigero (1964-1966) and Kisubi (1967–1971), Secondary School at Katende (1972-1976).
He entered in the Mayor Seminary of Philosophy of Mbaaga, Kampala (1976-1978) and studied Theology in St. Francis, Milwaukee, U.S.A. (1978-1982), where he obtained a Master in Divinity.
He was ordained priest 3th June 1983 for the Archdiocese of Kampala.in the Seminary of St. Mbaaga by Cardinal Emmanuel Nsubuga.
Pastoral assignments:
1982-1983 Teacher at Nswanjere Junior Seminary
1983-1987: Teacher and Vice-Rector at Nswanjere Junior Seminary
1987-1990: Parish Priest at Nyenga Parish;
1990-2008: Paris Priest of the Christ the King Parish, Kampala;
1991-1999: Dean of Christ the King Deanery;
30th October 1999-23th August 2008: Vicar General of Kampala Archdiocese;
1st February 2007–23th August 2008: Vicar General and Episcopal Vicar of Kampala Vicariate.
On 4th June 2008 was appointed Bishop of the Diocese of Kasana-Luweero and on the 23th of August received the Episcopal Consecration.
From 7th April 2021 until his appointment has been the Apostolic Administrator of Kampala Archdiocese.
