Karenga district residents decry of poor road network, call for gov’t quick intervention

By Yusuf Obbo

Residents of lobalangitti Sub County in Karenga district in Karamoja sub region have expressed concern of bad roads.

Residents say the poor roads have greatly affected the movement of people and their goods to the market centers and increased child mortality rate. And thus the residents want a quick response from the government.

Lobalangitti –Nakelio bad road is a 7.5 km that links lobalangit Sub County to kitgum road.

Residents say they are tired of writing letters to the concerned people yet road benefits everyone in the district.

The well rich with good nature and climate that allows farming throughout all seasons, Lobalangit Sub County is challenged by poor roads because of the many swamps present in the areas. The sub county is the leading area in terms of production of food in the whole District and Karamoja region at large.

According to lobalangiti chairperson Lc3 Hon.Abach largo says ” we have lost many lives both mothers and children when trying to take them  to the health facility due to the flooding water always. this road is affecting the three sectors that are too important to mankind that’s: Production where by goods don’t reach the market in time, the health sector where transportation of the sick to the health facility becomes difficult and then Education sector where low turn up of students when it over rains or rainy season .

Leaders say it’s high time for the government more so UNRA  to intervene because this road connects Karenga  sub county which is Lobalangit to Kitgum district .
