Presidential Adviser on Political Affairs and head of ONC Hajati Hadijjah Namyalo has urged the military and police officers to stop colluding with the rich in land evictions especially in Wakiso district.
Namyalo made the remarks while launching the “Jajja Tova ku main” campaign in Wakiso aimed at further mobilizing support for President Museveni and entrenching the NRM in the hearts of the people.
On the event attended by number of bigwigs who included NRM director mobilisation hon. Rosemary Seninde, NRM Wakiso Chairman Hajji Abdul Kiyimba, Wakiso RDC Justin Mbabazi and ONC Spokesperson Kitata Ibrahim, Namyalo made it very clear that being soldiers doesn’t mean that they are above the law and president Museveni against land evictions.
The residents of Wakiso district had complained about land grabbing and corruption especially by government officers in their area. They said that this is one of the reasons why people in Wakiso hate the NRM.
Maj. Charles Kabona the spokesperson of the 1st Battalion of the UPDF encouraged and advised the people not to remain silent but rather report to the law enforcement agencies because no soldier is allowed to involve him/herself in such illegal evictions and thus whoever does that does it on own behalf not the institution.
The RDC of Wakiso district, Justin Mbabazi said that they are facing several challenges due to theft in government employees such as women’s funds, youth funds, and government schools robbing parents of money which has led to school drop outs.
Rosemary Sseninde, the NRM director mobilisation reminded local leaders to always explain government programs to people as it is the only way the NRM will gain popularity and stop internal wrangles which have led to divisions thus losing elections.
