Over 100 Pastors and religious leaders from across the country on Wednesday gathered at Christian Life Ministries in Bwaise to pray for Uganda as the year ends.

The pastors  from various regions including Buganda, Ankole, Kigezi, Rwenzori, Lango, Acholi, and Busoga sub-regions led by the senior pastor of Christian Life Church Jackson Ssenyonga lauded president Yoweri Kaguta Museveni for upholding the country’s values and keeping peace and security within the country and the East African region which has allowed investors to do their businesses smoothly.

The national prayers were held under the theme: “The Roles of Religious Leaders in Uniting the Community.” The theme aimed at calling Christians to revive their faith in God through Jesus Christ’s ways of teaching.

“Let us repent and God will bless our country which is blessed with natural resources, good environment, fertile land, food, and others. If we do not ask God to forgive us and revive us spiritually, we shall see more calamities as it happens in other countries.” Said Pastor Ssenyonga

Pastor Ssenyonga who decried evils in society including the rampant cases of murder, domestic violence, abduction, corruption and discrimination urged Ugandans to pay taxes to enable government to offer excellent service delivery to the public.

Bishop Thomas Byamugisha, the overseer of Makindye-Sabagabo Church, and other Pastors praised President Yoweri Museveni for upholding Uganda’s values.

“It is because of his braveness to uphold Uganda’s values that many countries and organizations including the World Bank, are threatening to suspend their support to the country. However, he has stood firm to protect the country and its citizens from immorality like homosexuality. As religious leaders we appreciate him for that.” Byamugisha said.
