Media Personality, NUP’s Ssegawa Ismael Sureman Set to Unseat Mubende Municipality MP

By Kabuye Ronald
Renowned media personality and events promoter, Ssegawa Ismael Sureman, has declared his intention to contest for the Mubende Municipality Member of Parliament seat in the upcoming 2026 general elections.

Ssegawa Ismael Sureman, a popular radio presenter at Radio Simba and the organiser of the highly anticipated “Nva Mubende Festive” annual event, will be running on the National Unity Platform (NUP) ticket as he seeks to unseat the incumbent National Resistance Movement (NRM) MP, Hajji Bashir Lubega Ssempa.

Ssegawa Ismael Sureman, who has long been a prominent figure in Mubende’s social and cultural scene, is already on the ground with various empowerment initiatives aimed at uniting the community. His agenda focuses on improving service delivery in key sectors such as education, healthcare, infrastructure, and the nurturing of local talent in sports, music, drama, and dance.

Accusing the current MP, Hajji Bashir Lubega Ssempa, of neglecting his responsibilities, Ssegawa Ismael Sureman highlights the lack of effective legislation, insufficient oversight of local projects, and a failure to amplify the voices of his constituents. With a clear vision for change, Sureman is rallying Mubendeans to support his candidacy, promising to bring a fresh approach to leadership and to address the community’s pressing needs through strong and impactful legislation.

As the election draws closer, all eyes will be on Mubende Municipality to see whether Sureman can successfully unseat Ssempa and bring new leadership to the region.
