Police in Kisoro District have launched a manhunt for unidentified assailants who shot and injured a businessman during a robbery in which UGX 23 million was stolen.

The victim has been identified as 30-year-old Mucunguzi Kenneth, a resident of Mugomberero Trading Centre in Rushenyi Village, Kisoro District.
According to police reports, the incident occurred around 8 p.m. last night when a group of four armed men stormed a shop owned by Turinayo Michael. Mucunguzi, who was attending the shop at the time, was shot in the arm before the attackers made off with UGX 23 million in cash.

Elly Maate, the Kigezi Region Police spokesperson, confirmed the incident and described it as shocking. He said the attackers fired multiple rounds into the air to disperse bystanders before fleeing the scene.
Police officers responded promptly, visited the scene, and recovered nine cartridge casings. The victim was rushed to hospital for treatment.

“We have launched a manhunt to arrest the suspects and bring them to book,” said Maate. He also appealed to the public to share any information that could help in identifying and apprehending the perpetrators.
