In the early hours of Saturday morning, at approximately 0500hrs, a joint security operation by the Crime Intelligence (CI) and Joint Anti-Terrorism Taskforce (JATT) yielded a significant breakthrough in the fight against violent crime across the Busoga sub-region.

Acting on credible intelligence, the security team launched a targeted raid in Busu Girigiri Village, Maina Parish, Mpungwe Subcounty, located in Mayuge District. During the operation, a Sub-Machine Gun (SAR) bearing registration number UGPSO 564001178-11898 was successfully recovered. The firearm was found without ammunition but was accompanied by two hammers, believed to have been used in criminal activities.
Authorities confirmed that the weapon had been actively used in a spate of aggravated robberies and murders across multiple regions including Elgon, Bukedi South, Busoga East, Busoga North, Kiira, Sezibwa, and the Kampala Metropolitan Police (KMP) areas.

The recovery marks the third firearm retrieved since the inception of the ongoing regional counter-crime operations aimed at dismantling organized criminal networks.
The breakthrough came after the arrest of a key suspect identified as Imanantireganya Alfadudu, alias Congolese. Investigations revealed that Alfadudu had been operating the weapon, which was originally stolen in October 2024 from a private security guard in Mukono District. His arrest has provided critical leads for ongoing investigations.
Security officials have assured the public that further details will be released as inquiries continue, and efforts are intensified to dismantle the remaining elements of the criminal syndicate.
