Uganda Christian University (UCU), Mukono, is set to graduate the highest number of students in its history, marking a significant milestone in the institution’s academic journey.

A total of 1,524 students will graduate on Thursday, July 4th, across various disciplines. Of these, 860 are female, representing 56%, while 664 are male, accounting for 44%. Notably, 49 students will graduate with first-class degrees.
According to Dr. David Mugawe, Deputy Vice Chancellor for Finance and Administration, the increase in graduate numbers is attributed to the university’s conducive learning environment.
“We are holding our 26th graduation, which is part one of the four we conduct each year,” Dr. Mugawe said. “This one is held at our main campus in Mukono. The second will take place in October, the third at our Mbale campus, and the fourth in Kabale.”

He described the upcoming ceremony as a historic achievement.
“This is the highest number of graduates we’ve ever had. When UCU began, our first intake was about 200 students. Now, we are graduating over 1,500. That growth speaks volumes about the strength and progress of the university,” he added.
Highlighting the academic achievements of this cohort, Dr. Mugawe noted that 24 of the first-class degrees were earned by female students, while 25 were awarded to male students.
He also congratulated the top-performing students:

- Best Female Student: Diana Nansubuga – GPA 4.80, Bachelor of Science in Computer Science. She is also recognized as the best science student.

- Best Male Student and Overall Best Performer: Timothy Kiarbo – GPA 4.96, Bachelor of Procurement and Logistics Management. He also stands out as the top student in Humanities and Arts.
Dr. Mugawe praised the first-class graduates for their excellence and commitment, underscoring that their performance reflects the university’s dedication to academic distinction.
