Don’t Sell Churches for Money, Bishop Dr. Lwandasa Warns Born-Again Pastors

By Eric Yiga

Born-again pastors in Uganda have been urged to resist the temptation of commercializing churches in the pursuit of quick money—an act that risks handing over the house of God to people with ungodly intentions.

This warning was issued by Bishop Dr. Samuel Lwandasa, the overseer of Mt. Lebanon Churches in Uganda and President of the Love, Peace, and Unity Pastors’ Destiny Forum Uganda-East Africa. He delivered the message during a thanksgiving service marking 32 years of Mt. Lebanon Christian Centre Cathedral, located in Mukono Central Division, Mukono Municipality, Mukono District.

The vibrant service was attended by hundreds of believers, religious leaders—particularly from the Pentecostal community—and other dignitaries. The event began with prayer, praise, and thanksgiving songs, celebrating the journey of Mt. Lebanon Church and its impact on the nation.

In his sermon, Bishop Lwandasa reflected on the challenges and triumphs the ministry has faced over the past three decades. He emphasized the importance of patience, resilience, and unwavering faith in God, urging believers to remain steadfast in their spiritual journey.

“We must not sell our churches or compromise our values for money,” he cautioned. “The church is a holy place, and when we rush for riches, we risk handing it over to those aligned with darkness.”

Many long-serving members of the ministry, including Dorothy Nabachwa Ssenfuma, testified to the positive transformation in their lives. “I joined this ministry as a child. Through Bishop Lwandasa’s leadership and the introduction of programs like DIT and PACIED, I learned skills like decoration. Today, I have a job and can support my family,” she shared.
