Museveni Pledges New Tarmac Roads, Warns Against Poor Leadership at Kiboga NRM Rally

By Jumah Kakomo and Kabuye Ronald

The National Resistance Movement (NRM) presidential candidate, Gen. Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, has unveiled plans for several new tarmac road projects earmarked for Kiboga District in his next term of office, aimed at boosting infrastructure and economic activity in the area.

The proposed roads include the Myanzi–Kasanda–Bukuya–Kiboga road; Butalangwa–Kapeeka–Kakinga–Nakwaya road; Bukomero–Ddwaniro–Kyankwazi road; Bukwiri–Kyankwazi road; and the Nalweyo–Nkooko–Ntwetwe–Masod road. Gen. Museveni made the announcement while addressing supporters during an NRM presidential campaign rally at Ssaza Grounds in Kiboga District.

He attributed delays in the implementation of major infrastructure projects to what he described as disoriented legislators who misappropriate government funds and divert them to non-priority areas. He urged residents of Kiboga to hold their leaders accountable for proper planning and effective utilisation of public resources.

Gen. Museveni cautioned voters against electing what he termed mediocre leaders, warning that poor leadership choices could lead the country back to past mistakes. He dismissed views that reduce leadership and politics to a mere game, recalling Uganda’s turbulent political history between 1966 and 1986. He noted that the NRM government has maintained stability for nearly four decades by addressing the country’s leadership challenges.

He further stated that the NRM remains the only political party with a proven record of providing stable leadership and steering national development. Addressing the youth, Gen. Museveni warned against misleaders and inexperienced politicians who promote sectarian divisions. He highlighted the creation of youth representative slots in Parliament as a demonstration of the NRM’s commitment to youth participation in national leadership and development.

The NRM flag bearer also reaffirmed his government’s commitment to peace and national unity. He pledged to follow up on beneficiaries of government socioeconomic empowerment initiatives in Kiboga District, including Operation Wealth Creation, citing success stories from other regions.

Gen. Museveni revealed that Kiboga District has received about 350,000 mango seedlings, hundreds of thousands of coffee seedlings, and other agricultural inputs under Operation Wealth Creation, which he said he intends to monitor to ensure tangible benefits for farmers.

He encouraged residents to take advantage of improved infrastructure to create wealth at household and individual levels, outlining several commercially viable enterprises promoted under the NRM manifesto. Gen. Museveni concluded by elaborating on the NRM’s economic and social development plans for Kiboga District and called on voters to renew the party’s mandate in the forthcoming general elections.

The rally also featured the reading of the district memorandum by the Kiboga District NRM Chairperson, Ruth Nankabirwa.
