NETA–Uganda Unveils Fully Funded China Benchmarking Mission for Local Entrepreneurs And Traders

By Kabuye Ronald

The National Entrepreneurs and Traders Association Uganda (NETA–Uganda) has announced plans to sponsor Ugandan businesspersons on a benchmarking and partnership mission to China aimed at strengthening trade and investment ties between the two countries.

NETA–Uganda, a national umbrella body dedicated to representing, uniting, and empowering entrepreneurs and traders across Uganda through advocacy, capacity building, and strategic partnerships, will facilitate the fully funded trip in collaboration with the Chinese government.

According to NETA–Uganda National Chairperson, Thadeus Musoke Nagenda, the initiative seeks to foster cooperation with Chinese entrepreneurs and encourage investment in Uganda, particularly in local manufacturing.

“Our objective is to build strong partnerships with Chinese investors to establish manufacturing ventures in Uganda instead of relying heavily on imports. We also aim to secure markets for Ugandan products in China as part of efforts to strengthen trade relations between the two countries,” he said.

The delegation will participate in the 5th RCEP (Shandong) Import Expo, organized by the Linyi Wholesaler Federation, scheduled for April 20–22, 2026, at the Linyi International Convention and Exhibition Center.

The expo will feature 11 indoor exhibition halls and one multifunctional area, covering 35,000 square meters and hosting 1,200 international standard booths. Key activities will include an opening ceremony, main guest country promotions, international sister-city engagement sessions, investment promotion forums, and other networking events.

Exhibited product categories will include robotics, industrial machinery and electronics, agrochemicals and agricultural machinery, automotive products and spare parts, personal care and consumer goods, hospitality solutions, and domestic appliances.

The sponsorship package covers five-star hotel accommodation, meals, domestic transportation within China, and translation services. Participants will initially cover their airfare costs, which will be refunded upon arrival in China.

Other organizers of the expo include the Linyi Municipal People’s Government, Shandong Provincial Department of Commerce, Linyi Municipal Bureau of Commerce, Linyi Municipal People’s Government Foreign Affairs Office, Linyi City Commercial Management Committee, and the Lanshan District People’s Government.
