Kira Municipality Council has officially launched the Mega Trade Expo 2026, scheduled to take place from May 14 to May 17 at Kira Playground in Kira Division.

While launching the expo, Fred Ahimbisibwe, a commissioner from the Ministry of Trade, thanked Kira Municipality Council for the initiative. He noted that the expo will demonstrate Uganda’s commitment to promoting local industries by opening up markets for finished goods produced by exhibitors. Ahimbisibwe called upon the business community to work together to create solutions that will unlock these opportunities.

The launch attracted dignitaries from various sectors. Andrew Zziwa Ssekabira, one of the organisers, urged traders and stakeholders to participate in large numbers, emphasizing that the expo presents a valuable opportunity to access wider markets for their products. He encouraged those interested in exhibiting to register at the office of the Commercial Officer, Hanipher Kasule, at Kira Municipality offices before the registration deadline.

Zziwa added that the expo will cover various sectors, including health and the economy, and will offer exhibition space at affordable rates.
In his remarks, Mayor Julius Mutebi expressed his excitement about the initiative, saying it marks the beginning of an annual event that will have long-term benefits. He noted that the expo will increase Kira Municipality’s visibility both locally and internationally. Mutebi also thanked municipal leaders, councillors, and technical staff for their contributions over the past ten years of his leadership.

He further urged the technical team, led by Godfrey Muwanga, Head of Finance at Kira Municipality, to ensure the expo becomes an annual event, highlighting its potential benefits to the business community. He also encouraged future leaders to build on the progress achieved over the past decade.
