Law Development Center (LDC) Grade One Magistrate Marion Ninsiima has adjourned the matter in which two youths are accused of inciting violence.
The two youths Augustine Ojobile and Sharif Kawooya who were arrested in August from Kasubi and Kawempe respectively are accused of dropping a casket demanding the immediate resignation of the Permanent Secretary Ministry of Health Dr. Diana Atwine for allegedly mishandling COVID-19 response funds.
The coffin had placards inscribed with words attacking Dr. Atwine. Like “COVID-19 is not a profit venture,” In September, the two suspects were released on bail.
The Magistrate adjourned the matter to 5th, April, 2022 asserting that she could not proceed with the case when the State Attorney, the complaint Diana Atwine, and the accused Ojobile, and Kawooya are not in court.
The accused’ lawyer Elotu Jonathan told the court that his clients are sick.
This is the fourth time the case has been adjourned. Including in January, when it was adjourned twice after the prosecution failed to produce Atwine in court. This prompted the Magistrate to give a last chance to appear in court and testify in the case or else
