Trinity College Nabbingo, one of Uganda’s oldest and most prestigious girls’ schools, has ushered in a new Board of Governors with a mandate to steer the institution’s strategic development agenda amid rapid advances in technology, innovation and artificial intelligence.
The 83-year-old institution officially welcomed the incoming Board of Governors, led by Rev. Fr. Dr. Matthias Mulumba Wamala as chairperson, during a brief handover ceremony held at the college premises.
Rev. Fr. Dr. Mulumba thanked the Catholic Church leadership for entrusting him and his colleagues with the new governance responsibility, saying the board would work closely with all stakeholders to implement the college’s strategic master plan during its four-year term from 2026 to 2029.
“We are humbled, together with my colleagues, for this singular opportunity extended to us by the Catholic Church leadership to serve in the capacity of the new College Board of Governors,” he said.

“We wish to encourage both the college fraternity and the wider community to offer us the necessary support as we work to drive the strategic master plan of this great college, with Almighty God as our spiritual guide.”
The College Headmistress, Immaculate Nasozi Lwanga, on behalf of the technical team, paid tribute to the outgoing Board of Governors led by Rev. Fr. Dr. Joseph Mary Ssebunnya for their dedicated service and selfless commitment during their term of office.
Nasozi said the outgoing board’s guidance, wisdom and tireless efforts had played a vital role in shaping the growth and success of the institution, which is celebrating 83 years of academic excellence.
“We celebrate their legacy of service and collectively congratulate and welcome the new Board of Governors for the period 2026–2029, led by Chairperson Rev. Fr. Dr. Matthias Mulumba Wamala, together with all the appointed members and representatives,” she said.

Shs14 Billion Junior School Project
Meanwhile, the college, through the Trinity College Nabbingo Old Girls Association (TCNOGA), has intensified efforts to raise Shs14 billion for the construction of a prestigious Trinity Junior School near the main college in Nabbingo, Wakiso District.
The proposed junior school is expected to serve as a feeder institution to Trinity College Nabbingo and form part of the institution’s broader strategic development master plan.
The fundraising initiative was launched with the support and blessing of the Catholic Church leadership and the outgoing Board of Governors.

TCNOGA President Solome Marie Nassiwa Lubowa, who is spearheading the flagship project, expressed appreciation to the Catholic Church leadership for reportedly providing land for the construction of the junior school.
She said the Old Girls Association had intensified several resource mobilisation initiatives, including sports galas, aimed at raising awareness about the project and mobilising support from both local and international communities.
Lubowa said the initiatives would also help market the project and attract strategic partners and well-wishers to contribute towards the construction of the new school.
Headmistress Nasozi commended the Old Girls Association for championing what she described as a transformative project for the future of Trinity College Nabbingo.
She said the junior school would help provide a strong educational foundation for young girls while creating a smooth transition for learners into the mother institution.
According to Nasozi, the college has a highly qualified and professional team of dedicated teachers and support staff with the capacity to provide quality all-round education and instil strong moral values in learners.
She also commended the Catholic Church and other stakeholders for consistently supporting the institution whenever called upon to mobilise resources for projects aimed at improving the future of education and empowering the girl child.
With a new Board of Governors now in place and fundraising efforts for the proposed Shs14 billion junior school gaining momentum, Trinity College Nabbingo is positioning itself for a new phase of growth, innovation and academic excellence as it builds on its 83-year legacy.
