Police Names the 21 Retrieved Bodies From Kiteezi Landfill Tragedy

In a devastating incident that happened on early Saturday morning, 21 people have been confirmed dead while scores were rescued severely injured following a catastrophic collapse at the Kiteezi Landfill in Kampala.

The tragedy, which prompted a major rescue operation, occurred in the early hours, leading to an urgent response from multiple government agencies and local community members.

According to the latest update by the Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson SSP Patrick Onyango he has named the 21 retrieved dead persons.

Onyango stated “Uganda Police Force, Uganda Red Cross, Office of the Prime, Ministry of Works and KCCA are continuing with the rescue mission.

So far, 21 dead bodies have been retrieved and taken to City Mortuary Mulago for autopsy.

The names of those so far retrieved are:

2. Nuwary Kironde

3. Sam Kajubi

4. Meddy Mubiru 

5. Shamon Muhammed 

6. Halima Nakalume

7. Mulikedete Phiona

8. 3 months old baby of Mukadete

9. Kasule James 

10. Mukose Emmanuel 

11. Grace daughter to Anne Maria 

12. Brenda Kawuki

13. Sharon House maid to Brenda 

14. Kikambi Tiful

15. Nantege Jesca

16. Nalubega Easter

17. Whitney Nabulya 3 years old.

18. Kawesa 

19. Lwere Ronald 20 years

20. Kiyemba 

21. Wife to Kiyemba”
