Shock And Grief as Senior Six Student Commits Suicide

Shock and grief engulfed the students and staff of Solberg College Kabale after found a 21-year-old girl committed suicide by the time their colleagues had gone for prayers.

The deceased has been identified as Kiconco Nikitaa senior six student at Solberg College and resident of Rutoma cell  Nyabikoni ward central Division KMC Kabale District.

It’s alleged that, on Friday, some students of Solberg College left for the Easter holiday and around sixty (60) others remained at school and among them included Kiconco Nikita. 

On Easter day the students left the school for prayers at Nyabikoni COU at around 10 am and only two (02) students that were Kiconco Nikita and Tusiime Alice remained at the school in different Dormitories where Kiconco claimed to have not been feeling well and was on medication.

According to Elly mate Kigezi region police spokesman, when the students came back from church at around 1 pm, they found the body of Kiconco Nikita hanging with the rope tied around her neck and up on the timber at the roof. 

Students made an alarm which attracted the metron who informed the school head teacher Tusiime Denis and upon seeing the body he immediately reported the matter to Kabale Kabale central police station for thorough investigation.

Elly Mate adds that a case file of suspected suicide was opened at Kabale police station and the homicide team is on ground.

The body was retrieved from the scene, taken to Kabale referral hospital mortuary for examination as more investigation is underway.
