Presidential Hopeful Munyagwa Promises Economic Revival, Vows to Expel Foreign Investors in Local Businesses Within 48 Hours

By Obbo Yusuf

While addressing Muslims at Madina Mosque in Iganga town, presidential candidate Munyagwa Mubaraka urged the faithful to entrust him with their votes, promising to revitalize Uganda’s struggling economy.

Munyagwa pledged that, if elected, his government would take swift action—within 48 hours—to stop foreign investors from operating small businesses meant for local Ugandans.

“Investors have taken advantage of our cheap labor to exploit this country. In Busoga, the sugarcane business has been the biggest victim,” Munyagwa said. “Once elected, I will expel all foreign investors involved in small-scale businesses and return those opportunities to our people. That will be done within 48 hours.”

He called on the people of Busoga to rally behind his candidacy, declaring himself the only candidate committed to restoring Uganda’s economy.

During his campaign tour, Munyagwa also visited food vendors in Iganga town and led a procession with supporters through the streets. He later proceeded to Railway Grounds, where he is expected to address a larger gathering.

Munyagwa is among eight presidential candidates vying to unseat President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, who is seeking a seventh term in office.
