The National Resistance Movement (NRM) Presidential Candidate, General Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, has concluded his campaign trail in the Kigezi Sub-region with assurances of additional key infrastructural developments, including improved road networks, expanded water access for both domestic and production use, enhanced electricity and telecommunication services, and strengthened wealth and job-creation initiatives. He also highlighted the government’s commitment to boosting agricultural productivity through irrigation schemes and fertilizers.

General Museveni’s final rally in the region was held at Rukungiri District Main Stadium, where he underscored major infrastructural achievements implemented by the NRM government. These include state-of-the-art tarmac roads connecting the entire Sub-region to the rest of the country and neighboring states—connections he described as catalysts for development and wealth creation.

He noted that the transformation of the Kigezi Sub-region is anchored in the NRM government’s strategic prioritization and urged citizens to adopt and support these development-driven approaches.

While concluding the rally, General Museveni outlined the seven key contributions of the NRM government to Uganda, which he said the electorate should consider as they decide on the next leadership for the country.

He further explained the anticipated impact of the planned irrigation schemes, emphasizing their role in boosting farmers’ yields and strengthening agricultural output.

Addressing social services, the NRM Presidential Candidate highlighted major interventions in education and health within Rukungiri District. He pointed out that Uganda’s life expectancy has increased from 43 years to 68 years, attributing this progress to improved health systems, expanded immunization programs, and advancements in curative services.

General Museveni also challenged the people of Rukungiri to intensify efforts toward wealth and job creation. Citing several successful commercial farmers from across the country, he guided residents on practical strategies for scaling up job opportunities through profitable agricultural ventures and other wealth-creation programs.

He pledged increased funding for socioeconomic empowerment initiatives such as the Parish Development Model (PDM), Emyooga, the Youth Livelihood Program, and Women Empowerment schemes, describing them as essential sources of capital for aspiring wealth creators.

In addition to agriculture, he highlighted job opportunities available in the manufacturing and service sectors and listed NRM-guided wealth-creation enterprises that residents can venture into. He advised the people of Rukungiri to distinguish clearly between development and individual wealth, stressing that both require intentional and sustained effort.
