The National Resistance Movement (NRM) presidential candidate, Gen. Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, has officially launched the party’s campaign trail in the Greater Mukono sub-region, calling on leaders and residents of Kayunga District to assert their mandate in overseeing service delivery and government programs.

Addressing a massive rally at Busaana Town Council Grounds in Kayunga District, Museveni highlighted key government initiatives including the Parish Development Model (PDM), the fight against drug theft in government health centres, universal education programmes, and wealth creation strategies aimed at transforming household incomes.
Museveni challenged voters to elect NRM leaders with the capacity and integrity to monitor the effective implementation of government programmes at all levels. He stressed that leadership should go beyond representation to active supervision and accountability.

The NRM flag bearer further tasked elected leaders in Kayunga District to lead by example in wealth creation, pledging to fast-track the expansion of irrigation schemes to support commercial agriculture and improve productivity.
In a bid to boost industrialisation and employment, Museveni asked residents to identify suitable land for the establishment of an industrial park in Kayunga District, noting that such an investment would create jobs for the youth and stimulate local economic growth.

He also outlined job opportunities created under the NRM government in sectors such as commercial agriculture, manufacturing, and services, citing success stories from across the country as proof of the viability of these sectors.
Emphasising skills development, Museveni underscored the importance of vocational training as a pathway to employment, pointing to graduates of the Presidential Zonal Industrial Skilling Hubs as evidence of skills-based job creation.

On land matters, Museveni instructed the NRM Secretariat to extract and popularise land provisions enacted by the Constituent Assembly that protect tenants from unlawful evictions. He urged residents to understand their legal rights in order to counter land grabbing and illegal evictions, noting that the Constitution recognises all forms of land tenure and guarantees security of occupancy, including for tenants.
The President also provided an update on the government’s land compensation programme and pledged to further strengthen its implementation.

Addressing citizenship concerns raised by the Bakuku community—who claim they have been denied passports by the Ministry of Internal Affairs—Museveni tasked Maj. Gen. Apollo Gowa, the Director of Citizenship and Immigration Control, to explain the different categories of Ugandan citizenship and ensure that the community’s concerns are resolved.
On the Parish Development Model, Museveni warned against neglect and misuse of PDM funds, urging residents to actively follow up on the operationalisation of the programme and report corrupt officials. He also challenged PDM beneficiaries to utilise the funds responsibly to achieve the intended wealth creation objectives.
Museveni guided residents on proper land utilisation and the selection of viable commercial enterprises, and promised to establish a large-scale fish farming initiative in Kayunga District to further enhance household incomes.

Meanwhile, the First Lady, Maama Janet Kataha Museveni, called for unity and strengthened grassroots mobilisation in support of all NRM flag bearers up to polling day.
NRM First National Vice Chairperson, Alhaji Moses Kigongo, warned indisciplined and “double-faced” leaders to reform, cautioning that the party would take firm action against errant members. The NRM Second National Vice Chairperson (Female), Anita Among, highlighted key development milestones achieved by the NRM government in Kayunga District.
The Kayunga District NRM Chairperson, Moses Karangwa, concluded the event by reading the district memorandum to the party leadership.
