Over 1700 people on Wednesday benefited from the Operation Wealth Creation OWC project where a total of 9450 Kg maize, 8000 kgs seedlings where distributed amongst them as they prepare for the coming planting season.
In the same way, 50 famers received 100 pigs with each getting 2 pigs
The beneficiaries applauded government for supporting them before calling for assistance in the treatment of the animal since in the past the animal given to them have been dying due poor medication.
Beneficiaries also pledged to use the products given to them to elevate themselves from poverty
Resident District Commission for Iganga district, Matende Thomas cautioned those who have received the pigs against selling them or even slaughtering them since the culprits will be charged for fighting government programs of improving people’s welfare and also have the animals withdrawn.
Mr. Ogaza Steven, the Iganga District production officer said that the program has been extended to all categories of people in need.
Ogaza also urged the beneficiaries to always reach out to the production office for further consultation.
