By Robert Segawa

Police at Kabalagala are holding 12 Senior One students in connection with a video circulating on social media showing a group of boys assaulting a fellow teenager in Nakibinge Zone, Kibuli, Kampala.

According to police, the prime suspect is aged 16, while preliminary investigations have established that the other suspects are also minors aged between 14 and 17.

The arrests followed the circulation of a video on social media depicting a group of boys assaulting a fellow teenager. In the footage, the prime suspect is seen punching the victim.

Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson Racheal Kawala said the suspects were apprehended on September 17 and 18, 2026, with the final arrests made at about 2:00am on September 18 during an intelligence-led operation in Nakibinge Zone, Kibuli Parish, Makindye Division, Kampala District.

Preliminary investigations indicate that the assault occurred on September 13 at about 6:00pm in the same area.

Kawala said the victim, who is also approximately 16 years old, is currently at his mother’s residence in the same locality, where he is receiving medical treatment.

The suspects remain in police custody as investigations continue to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident and the individual roles of each suspect.

The Uganda Police Force has condemned acts of violence, particularly those involving minors, and reiterated its commitment to protecting the safety and dignity of all persons while ensuring that suspects are handled in accordance with the law and procedures governing juvenile offenders.

The police file will be submitted to the Resident State Attorney for advice.
