Former national team boxing skipper Zebra Mando murdered in cold blood.

The former Uganda national team “The bombers” captain,  also In charge general duties at the Uganda Boxing Federation (UBF) and owner of Zebra Boxing club Isaac Ssenyange best known as Zebra Mando has been murdered in cold blood in the wee hours of Tuesday night.

Zebra Mando, 39, met his death in a rather gruesome manner when unknown gunmen attacked his family based in Bwaise (near Eden Service Park), a Kampala city suburbs.

According to his wife, they were first knocked at the door before they opened and the shooting was done. Later his body was taken to Mulago Hospital for postmortem studies.

In one of his last coordination events at UBF, Zebra organized a function to bid farewell to sports journalists who have turned politicians. On the event him and the UBF president Muhangi gave the journalists turn politicians a number of posters to boost their campaigns.

A number of journalists, boxers, kick boxers, politicians and ordinary Ugandans have eulogized his demise.

Ssenyange is a former national team (The Bombers) captain who featured prominently in the super heavy fights before he graduated from the amateurs setting to become a full professional.

He is best remembered for having captained the Bombers to the 10th All Africa Games hosted in Maputo city, Mozambique in 2011.

By and large, his 15 year amateur career was highlighted by 195 wins and 19 losses before turning professional when he debuted against Kenya’s Patrick Amote in 2012.

He survived by a widow, Mercy Ssenyange and one child, Isaac Ssenyange Junior.

Burial arrangements not yet out.
