Kampala Metropolitan Police have launched investigations into the death of Kakaire Jonah Moses, a 28-year-old former chef at Pastor Kakande’s Temple Mount Church in Kubiri, following concerns raised by his relatives over the circumstances surrounding his death.
According to our sources, information about Kakaire’s death was received by police on October 1, 2026, from his brother.

The deceased’s body was subsequently transported by Rhino Funeral Services to his ancestral home in Waina, Mayuge District, where he was buried on October 4.
However, his relatives raised concerns about the circumstances surrounding his death, prompting his brother to return to Kampala on October 5 and ask police to establish what had happened.
Police subsequently opened a General Enquiry File at Wandegeya Police Station to investigate the matter.

As part of the inquiries, detectives have recorded statements from the deceased’s relatives, some church members and workers of Rhino Funeral Services.
Police have also retrieved and reviewed CCTV footage from the church with the assistance of information and communications technology (ICT) experts. Scene of Crime Officers also visited and processed the relevant scene.
Several individuals have been questioned as investigators seek to establish the circumstances that led to Kakaire’s death.
Preliminary findings indicate that the deceased may have slipped and fallen into the lift pathway as the lift was moving upwards. The lift is then said to have returned and struck his head.
Sources also revealed that Police have also established that the deceased was taken to Mulago City Mortuary without a corresponding police case having been registered at the time.
Investigations are ongoing, with detectives working to obtain the postmortem report, identify and interview additional witnesses, and submit the inquiry file for legal advice.
