Arise Uganda; our heroes’ sacrifices are now bearing fruit

Every June 9, Uganda marks Heroes’ Day in remembrance of those who contributed to the liberation struggle, which ushered in the NRM Government (1986). Greater Luwero popularly known as the ‘Political Mecca’ of NRM, was the epicenter of the protracted war, which lasted for about 5 years.

The Senior Presidential Advisor on Diaspora Affairs who doubles as NRM Diaspora League Chairperson, Ambassador Hajji Abbey Walusimbi, attended the Heroes’ Day celebrations at Kataala Catholic Parish grounds, Luwero District, to honour heroes and heroines, who played pivotal roles in the struggle for Uganda’s liberation, and those who have made outstanding contributions in various fields. 

H.E. Gen. (Rtd) President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni was represented by the Prime Minister, Rt. Hon. Robbinah Nabbanja, who united the nation in remembering and recognising the country’s exceptional individuals.

The Ambassador stated that the NRM Government has recorded tremendous achievements in Luwero District, especially in areas of education, health, infrastructure, industrialisation, and the Parish Development Model.

He rallied the people of Luwero to consolidate the achievements, and embrace President Museveni’s message of wealth creation. He also appealed to Ugandan Diasporas & potential investors, to take advantage of peace & stability to invest in Uganda.

Walusimbi thanked the National Organizing Committee for delivering colorful celebrations, and mobilising the people Ugandans who turned up in big numbers. He also thanked the Premier, Rt. Hon. Robinah Nabbanja & 3rd Deputy Premier, Rt. Hon. Nakadama, and Honorable Ministers; Babalanda, Misa, Wamala, Kasaija, Nankabirwa, Ssempijja, Kaboyo, Muyingo, Kyofa, Butime, Namayanja, Ambassadors; Kinobe, Kisule & Ogwang, Diplomats from Rwanda, Saudi Arabia, Australia, Eritrea, Investors & Special guest, Prince Muhammad Ibn Al Maktoum of UAE, Hajji Yunus Kakande, Alhajji Abdul Nadduli, Kiwanda, RDC, Bwabye, & DRDC, Miriam, among others.
