The deputy Residence City Commissioner (RCC) of Lubaga Division Kampala Capital City Authority Herbert Anderson Burora has halted the process of giving out money for Parish Development Model (PDM) in Lubaga Division due to lack of transparency.
The Parish Development Model (PDM) was launched by President Yoweri Kaguta Tibuhaburwa Museveni with the aim to lift 17.5 million Ugandans in 3.5 million households out of poverty through total transformation of the subsistence households into the money economy.
Addressing journalists at his office in Lubaga, Burora noted that Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) which is the Apex body of registering and verifying beneficiaries has failed because the people on the list are not the ones meant to receive the money.
Burora adds that approximately 195 people were supposed to benefit from PDM in Lubaga Division but surprisingly 489 people are seen on the list hence calling for investigations into the surplus numbers and the people handling the program.
He also disclosed that the PDM money was supposed to be given to the poor but the list are full of salary earners, Benz Drivers and well off people.
Burora revealed that they have given out names of some of KCCA officials handling the program to police for further investigation.
