Celebrated radio personality and Social activist Omusawo Tintah alias Male Deogratius inconjunction with Uganda Red Cross society Kampala North Branch has launched a drive soliciting condoms for the Bwaise Slums following an outcry from the same community.

Omusawo Tintah who is a radio host and head of production at Metro FM 90.8’s launched Condom drive resulted from an interaction he had with the communities of Bwaise slums, in Kawempe Division, Kampala Capital City.

In one of the posts on his official social media platforms, the Community Health Leader in Kimumbasa slum only identified as Kagame tells Omusawo Tintah that they are in crisis of lack of condoms which has increased the spread of STDs, UTIs, HIV/AIDS and other sexually related diseases.

“Here in Kimumbasa we no longer get free condoms like we used to. We have tried our best to get them but in vain since even when i go to the centres i used to get them from and bring them to my community they tell me that they are not available yet our communities cannot afford to buy condoms which goes for minimum of Uganda shillings 1000 thus they are left with one option of having live sex.”

Omusawo Tintah has since created donation platforms among which include: a website of  https://hazues.com/ , Telephone number of  +256 706815254 or take the Condoms to the collection point at Metro FM offices located at Utoda White house along Martin road, old Kampala.

According to statistics by Uganda Aids Commission for the period 2010-2020, the number of People Living with HIV increased from 1.2M to 1.4M largely which was a tremendous
improvement in the fight against the HIV and AIDS epidemic. Hence being is among the (08) countries in the world that had fully achieved the 90–90–90 targets by the end of 2020,
the others being Eswatin, Switzerland, Rwanda, Qatar, Botswana, Slovenia and Malawi.

The improvement is attributed to improved access and utilization of HIV services like Condom Use testing, care and treatment.
