By Hannah Marion Namukasa

The organic food products movement from Uganda is gaining momentum as Ugandan exhibitors are introduced to new markets at Uganda Expo organised by the Ugandan Embassy in Russia.

Sampled nutritious food such as avocado, pineapples, oranges and others were exhibited.

Nearly 30 producers and companies participated at the Uganda Expo in Moscow Russia on 24th May 2023.

“As seen at Uganda Expo Russia, the organic food movement is producing an impressive amount of innovation, driven by increased demand from consumers, retailers, and the brands that serve them,” said Edrisa Sserunkuuma, chief executive officer and co-founder of Native Group of Companies a Cocoa and Vanila Post Harvest Consultancy company.

He added  “At the Expo booth and throughout the show’s halls, products could be found for every category — powered by a diverse range including cocoa fruit, pineaple, vanila, coffee, okra, mangoes and more.”

While opening the ceremony Uganda’s Ambassador to Russia Kizige Moses Kawaaluuko encouraged for business relationships between Uganda and Russians in the agriculture and tourism sector.

Amongst other exhibitors was the Uganda Coffee Development Authority represented promoting our coffee to the Russian market.
