UPC concerned about water disconnection in health facilities, challenge M7 on SONA, eulogize fallen Hon. Kato Lubwama works

By Jumah Kakomo

Uganda People’s Congress UPC has exhibited concern over the water and electricity disconnection of the key government establishments like hospitals and health centers due to accumulating bills.

UPC’ head of media and communication Faizo Muzeyi said that water and electricity are one of the essential necessities at such facilities that should not be played with.

Faizo says the incident adds to the list of unresolved issues in the health ministry like insufficient medicine in Government health outlets. Adding that Last week, a local newspaper carried a story that the Organ Monitoring Machine was stolen from Mulago, a National Referral Hospital.

Its on that note that UPC called for special intervention from government to normalize the situation as the lives of our people are at stake.

“Our health workers, teachers and local government employees have been crying out for a better pay. We acknowledge and appreciate the engagements between Government and professional bodies that have seen promises and commitments to address the same. However, implementation has always been slow, which creates labour unrest. This should be given utmost attention! UPC is therefore expecting the state of the nation address not to ignore the plight of our workers entirely. Something should be done to have harmony in labour and industrial relations.” Said Faizo Muzeyi

UPC is also concerned with the role of our troops in Somalia and sympathizes greatly with the Government, UPDF and the families of both fallen and injured soldiers.

UPC party spokesperson Arach Oyat Sharon

UPC’s spokesperson Arach Oyat Sharon called upon the international community like AU and IGAD to take keen interest in the situation and advance a mechanism of dialogue that can help out on conflict resolution and management especially in those African countries where political instability is being registered.

“The guns and bombs in Somalia need to stop and a true political process of uniting the country commences. A political approach may offer sustainable peace and stability in this war torn country and find a lasting solution.”  Said Arach Oyat Sharon

UPC also strongly condemned acts of violence and involvement of security agencies in electoral processes after their Party flag bearer for Bukedea LC5 Mr. Sam Okwir who was set to nominate on Tuesday with others failed to nominate.

UPC claims that there was a planned violence by the supporters of other contenders on our flag bearer and the independent contestant that led to the confiscation of the signature forms of flag bearer, arrest of his team members and supporters which foiled his nomination.

UPC said Elections should always be peaceful, free and fair by offering a leveled ground that allows people to participate and exercise their democratic rights.

About the State of Nation Address by president Museveni today Wednesday UPC wants President Yoweri K. Museveni to assurance and steps taken to address the tough socio-economic challenges faced by the general citizenry.

UPC also eulogized the former Member of Parliament for Rubaga South Constituency Hon. Kato Lubwama.

UPC said besides being a politician, Hon. Kato was a radio presenter, comedian, musical composer, drama actor who mentored a number of youths who are now earning a living from the art industry.
