Three priests consecrated Bishop in EOC, Bishop Kibuuka rallies public on justice

By Kabuye Ronald

The presiding Bishop for the Evangelical Orthodox Church EOC in Uganda Jacinto Kibuuka has rallied Ugandans on Justice, trustworthiness and honest.

Bishop Jacinto Kibuuka made the remarks while leading the EOC Episcopal Ordination of three priests as Bishops at Mamre International Prayer Center in Janda, Namugongo, Wakiso district.

The three newly consecrated Bishops include now Bishop Dr. John Baptist Matovu, Bishop Joseph Bizibu Birungi and Bishop Bruno Ssekiryamuba Muhindo who were elected as the Auxiliary Bishop of Uganda, Auxiliary Bishop of Kampala Diocese and Bishop for North Kivu Diocese, Democratic Republic of Congo respectively.

The three were elected as Bishops in the Evangelical Orthodox Church (EOC) International Synod that sat on 4th November, 2022 in Indianapolis United States of America.

On the colorful event attended by a mammoth of believers, in his homily Bishop Jacinto Kibuuka rallied the public to always be just, trustworthy and honest in whatever they do.

“Justice should be in our hearts, homes, courts and the country at large. Without justice we will not have development and peace. To our dear leaders, are you just? Some are given vehicles others are not, some are dear others are not, some are loved others are not I think justice is needed.  Let us not think about justice in others without us being just. Justice is needed in everything we do and at all levels,” Bishop Kibuuka said.

Bishop Kibuuka urged the newly consecrated Bishops to work for the expansion of the church and the God’s kingdom by fostering development amongst the believers spiritually, socially and economically.

“God says He knew you even before you were born. You are God’s chosen to do His work. Don’t fear anything. There are challenges in the nation you will face but don’t fear.  There is a lot of religious intolerance in the country but ignore that and welcome everyone,” Bishop Kibuuka added.

He also took a whip at those who are working for the downfall of Evangelical Orthodox Church in Uganda.

“There is lot of ignorance among the people that they fear whatever they don’t know. While starting here, they gave us two months to collapse but we are almost making a decade here. Don’t fear to do what is right.”

Kawempe deputy Resident City Commissioner, Yasin Ndidde who represented Kampala Minister, Kabuye Kyofatogabye urged that the newly consecrated leaders be guided by wisdom in everything they do.

“The leadership you have taken charge of means you will protect the unit, doctrine and discipline in church. Our job is to pray for you to succeed in your work,”Ndidde said.
