President Museveni appoints son Muhoozi new CDF, Lt. Gen. Elwelu also dropped

President Museveni has appointed the First Son Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba the new Commander in Chief (CDF) of the Uganda People’s Defence Force.

The seat fell vacant after Gen Wilson Mbadi was appointed State Minister for Trade in President Museveni’s cabinet.

Lt Gen Samuel Okiding replaces Gen Peter Elwelu, now appointed Museveni’s Senior Presidential advisor.

The president also promoted Maj Gen Jack Agonza Bakasumba to replace Maj Gen Loepold Kyanda as the new Joint Chief of Staff, with the latter now set to be deployed as a defence attache in a yet-to-be-known country.

Also promoted is the Special Forces commander, Brigadier David Mugisha who is now a Major General while Col Asaph Nyakikuru, SFC Commando has been elevated to the rank of Brigadier from Colonel.
