UPC’s Sarah Aguti wins Dokolo Woman MP by elections

Ms Sarah Aguti of the Uganda People’s Congress (UPC) was on Thursday night declared the winner of the District Woman MP by elections race after garnering the most votes.

Ms Aguti who in 2021 lost to the late Cecilia Ogwal polled 23044 votes in the total 173 polling stations scattered to beat five other candidates in the race including NRM’s Rose Adong Janet Elau who trailed in second with 14001 votes.

The late Cecilia Ogwal’s daughter, Dr Rosemary Acwol Ogwal who carried the opposition FDC’s flag came third with 8168 votes and NUP’s Harriet Ageno fifth with 727 votes. Two independent candidates in the race, Ms Akullo Esther-Obot and Rebecca Arao had 790 and 439 votes respectively.

Sarah Aguti Nyangkori is a social worker and a graduate of Social Works and Social Administration from Uganda Christian University, Mukono.
