For the few times I have interacted with him, I always see Integrity and character standing on two legs, he always stands for his beliefs. No matter how hard the situation, he strives. His love and passion for the Kingdom and culture is beyond measure.
In my opinion, there are ten characteristics that best sum up Katikkiro Charles Peter Mayiga: he is visionary, strategic, decisive, “collaborative,” “innovative,” “inspiring, influential, accountable, confident, and ethical which characters go beyond expectations of any civilized society.
At a time when the Buganda Kingdom was in near terrible shape, Mayiga was named prime minister. Three years earlier, the Masiro, which houses the remains of the Great Kings of Buganda, was set on fire. Lack of finances was causing restoration efforts to halt, and it was also preventing other activities from being carried out.
Months after his appointment, he set off on a fundraising drive dubbed Ettoffaali, in which he sought financial support from everyone in the kingdom and beyond and the reconstruction of the former Bulange Plaza to a new face and Beauty of Masengere.
Not forgetting Emwanyi Terimba which is easily translated as you can’t go wrong with coffee growing which again has boosted its growing majorly in the Central region and Beyond.
His ability to convince all people of class for a contribution to rebuild the Kingdom awakened the sleeping lion spirit that had slept for so long to make Buganda to stand again on its two legs.
How forgetful are we?
Indeed, nations such as America would gladly empty their bank accounts to get Owek. Charles Peter Mayiga as their next leader, should he be placed up for sale. But any way Jose Chameloen was right Basiima Ogenze – meaning they appreciate people when they are dead.
Upon perusing through historical accounts and the historical significance of the Katikkiroship, I have come to realize that no single Katikkiro of Buganda had an easy tenure; rather, what distinguishes them is their ability to persevere through difficult times while maintaining their commitment to their duty.
It is for this reason that I have concluded that Owek. Charles Peter Mayiga is the Katikkiro Buganda has been searching for over a millennium.
