Nkumba University’s football team is heading to Nigeria to compete in the African Inter-University Championship following a triumphant 3-1 victory over Uganda Christian University (UCU) in the final of the Pepsi University Football League at the MTN Omondi Stadium.

On Thursday morning, the team was officially flagged off by University Vice Chancellor Prof. Jude Lubega, accompanied by members of the university council.
In his address, Prof. Lubega commended the team for their impressive performance throughout the league and encouraged them to represent Uganda with pride. “Raise the Ugandan flag higher and show the continent what we are capable of,” he urged.

As the team prepares for the upcoming championship, their sponsor, Flight Tech Consults, has announced an incentive program that promises to reward the team with 1 million UGX for each goal scored and a bonus of 5 million UGX if they secure the championship trophy.

Team captain Kennedy Sewankambo expressed the squad’s determination, stating, “We are ready to give our best and bring home the trophy. This is a great opportunity for us, and we are focused on achieving victory.”
