By Obbo Yusuf

The community of Busoga is in mourning following the death of Hajji Yakub Kasadah, a prominent businessman and philanthropist, who passed away on September 23, 2024, at the age of 55.

Thousands of friends, relatives, religious leaders, and politicians gathered at his home in Nakilulwe village, Iganga district, to pay their last respects.

Hon. Peter Mugema, known as “Panadol,” reflected on Hajji Yakub’s legacy, saying, “Top funder of politicians is gone. Who will hold us now? We ask Allah to bless Hajji with Janah.” His contributions to local development and support for political initiatives had made him a respected figure in the region.

Hajji Yakub was airlifted to Aga Khan Hospital in Nairobi for treatment prior to his passing. Born in 1969 in Bukona village, he built a successful business empire in Iganga, particularly in transportation and importation, where he dealt in oil and second-hand goods.

Iganga’s Mayor, Bamu Lulenzi, praised Yakub’s impact on the community, stating, “We have lost a local investor, a person who contributed significantly to Iganga’s growth. He has been supportive in every sector of development, including financing our politicians. May Allah give him Janah.”

Sheikh Sinani Mwanika, the district Kadhi, spoke to mourners about the lessons to be learned from Yakub’s life. “Yakub was friendly and beloved. Death serves as a reminder for all of us to respect Allah and remain humble, no matter our wealth or power,” he said.

Hajji Yakub Kasadah was laid to rest on September 24, 2024, at his home in Nakilulwe. His passing leaves a significant void in the business and political landscapes of Busoga, as the community remembers a man who dedicated his life to uplifting others.
