Bobi Wine’ UK Special Envoy Charged, Bank Accounts Frozen

By Hannah Marion Namukasa

Faisal Mukasa the National Unity Platform (NUP) president Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu(Bobi Wine)’s special envoy in the United Kingdom has been arrested and charged before Buganda Road Court with inciting violence.

Mukasa(32) was arrested in the police lead operation on 20th of December 2024 in Ntinda a Kampala city suburb and was detained at Kiira police Division for a number of days before arraigned in Court and denied the charges slapped on him.

According to documents, Mukasa has been on police’s wanted list since 2023 when was arrested in Makindye with NUP youths and was detained at Katwe police station but was released on police bond after which he jumped and fled back to London.

However when he sneaked into the country to celebrate Christmas with his family and friends, police operatives were notified of his presence and were tracked until arrested in Ntinda.

His lawyers led by Nasser Kibazo of Kibazo Associated Advocates when applying for his release on bail told the Court that their client needed special medication better than that of prison if remanded as the State Attorney Frank Kyazze submitted.

Kibazo further submitted that Mukasa was badly beaten by operatives dressed in civilian clothes, put on gun point while forcing him to enter into a Toyota Hiace car commonly known by the public as Drone.

Kibazo further asserted that Mukasa confirmed to him that he was most tortured by operatives inside the Drone accusing him of being a criminal used to disturb president Museveni’s government.

On the issue of jumping police bond which State Attorney used as a ground to object the bail application, Kibazo explain to court that Mukasa informed the Investigating Officer who was handling his file at Katwe police station that he was urgently needed in London United Kingdom to finish up with the requirement needed so as to be on the list of those to graduate with a master’s degree in law and International Relations from Middlesex University London.

He submitted to the magistrate that Mukasa decided to come back to Uganda to celebrate the festive season knowing very well that he is not a fugitive and still innocent of the charges slapped on him by the State.

The presiding magistrate released Mukasa with condition of depositing Shs3m cash and his sureties ordered to pay Shs10m not cash and the matter was adjourned to 12th February 2025.

However, sources within police revealed to this website that Mukasa is Bobi Wine’s confidant and travelled with him to the United States of America where he was awarded a Green Carpet Fashion Award.

Exclusively speaking to this online paper, Kibazo admitted that his client is a friend to Bobi Wine and his among the NUP leadership in United Kingdom and was among the selected few people who welcomes Bobi Wine at Heathrow Airport in 2024 when the United Kingdom government lift the ban of not entering their country.

He added that they have started the process of going to court and securing a court order allowing his client to access his bank accounts claiming that they were frozen by the government on suspicion that his bank accounts are used for committing money laundering crimes.
