Mutebe Naifu, a young supporter of the NRM party, is devastated after his car, branded with NRM colors and a portrait of party chairman President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, was set on fire by unknown assailants in Iganga. The incident, which took place along the Jinja-Iganga-Kaliro road, has left Naifu shocked and questioning the motives behind the attack.

Speaking exclusively to Trusted News, Naifu shared his account of the harrowing night. “Unknown people invaded my home at night and stole my car,” he recounted. “By the time I realized what had happened, they were long gone. I immediately raised an alarm, and some people responded. When we traced their path, we found that they had already set the car on fire. It was too late to save it.”

The Toyota Harrier, registered under number UBN 423G, was completely engulfed in flames by the time authorities arrived. Naifu expressed his frustration over the attack, adding, “I am wondering who could do such a thing.

No one can intimidate me from loving my president. If you think burning my car will lessen my loyalty, shame on you. If it’s my political opponents, they should play fair in politics instead of resorting to cowardly tactics.”

Iganga police have launched an investigation to identify those responsible for the destruction of Naifu’s vehicle and to understand the motive behind the incident.

Naifu, a passionate human rights advocate and director of the New Hope Orphanage Centre and schools in Nasuti, Kigulu North, supports orphaned children by providing them with shelter and education. As he prepares to run for the Member of Parliament seat for Kigulu North in the 2026 general elections, Naifu is set to challenge the incumbent, Hon. Bwino Free Kyakulaga, along with potential opponents including Hajji Badhogi Ismael.
