East Africa’s largest pharmaceutical, medical, and healthcare exhibition dubbed as “MedTech Uganda & Uganda Pharma Expo 2025” was officially launched and opened on Tuesday by the minister of health Dr. Hon. Jane Ruth Aceng, in partnership with the Uganda Manufacturers Association (UMA).

The premier exhibition, scheduled to run from July 1st to 3rd, 2025, at the UMA Show Grounds in Lugogo Kampala, is poised to be a landmark event for then region’s healthcare sector. It is organised by ACE group, Genesis, and Astro Wisan, more importantly, it represents a critical opportunity for local manufacturers to showcase their capabilities, forge strategic partnerships, and play a pivotal role in bridging healthcare gaps through domestic production.
During the launch and opening of the Expo, the Minister of Health, Dr. Jane Ruth Aceng highlighted the significance of the MedTech Uganda and Uganda Pharma Expo 2025, saying this event promises to be a pivotal moment for the country’s healthcare sector

Dr. Aceng emphasized the importance of promoting domestic production of essential medicines and health supplies, aligning with the government’s agenda to reduce reliance on imports. The Minister noted that the expo would facilitate knowledge transfer, innovation, and collaboration among industry stakeholders, ultimately improving healthcare outcomes.
Dr. Aceng expressed optimism that the event would position Ugandan manufacturers as potential suppliers for the entire East African region, fostering regional collaboration and growth, adding that the Expo, will also provide a platform for local manufacturers to showcase their capabilities, attract investments, and expand their market reach.

The director, Inspectorate and enforce at National Drug Authority (NDA) Denis Mwesigwa from the National Drug Authority (NDA), highlighted the significance of the MedTech Uganda and Uganda Pharma Expo 2025, saying, as a key regulatory body, the NDA shall always keep on playing a crucial role in ensuring the safety, quality, and efficacy of drugs and medical devices in Uganda.
He emphasized the importance of ensuring that medical products and devices meet the highest standards of quality, safety, and efficacy, and the expo will provide a platform for discussions on these critical issues.
He adds that the NDA looks forward to collaborating with industry players, academia, and other stakeholders to advance the healthcare sector in Uganda and promote access to quality healthcare products.

The Indian Commissioner to Uganda, H.E. Mr. Upender Singh Rawat reaffirmed India’s commitment to strengthening cooperation with Uganda in the health sector. He expressed his willingness to work closely with Ugandan authorities to improve healthcare facilities and services in Uganda through collaborative efforts and foster partnerships between Indian and Ugandan institutions to advance medical research and innovation.
The advisor of Federation of Indian chamber of commerce and Industries Trushar Upadhyay extended heartfelt gratitude to the organizers of MedTech Uganda and Uganda Pharma Expo 2025 for their exceptional efforts in bringing together industry professionals, innovators, and stakeholders. He appreciates the opportunity to engage with key players in the medical technology and pharmaceutical sectors.
