Museveni Concludes Sebei Campaign in Kapchorwa, Pledges Hospital Upgrade and Expanded Development Programs

The National Resistance Movement (NRM) Presidential candidate, General Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, has concluded his campaign trail in the Sebei Sub-region, pledging major development projects aimed at improving health, education, and infrastructure.

Speaking at Kapchorwa Boma Grounds, General Museveni announced plans to upgrade Kapchorwa District Hospital into a Regional Federal Hospital to serve the entire Sebei Sub-region. He also confirmed that the government will upgrade additional health centers across the district to enhance access to quality healthcare services.

The NRM Presidential candidate further assured the people of Kapchorwa District that his government will establish more primary and secondary schools in every parish and sub-county respectively, as part of efforts to expand educational opportunities.

Highlighting the NRM’s 2026–2031 Manifesto, General Museveni described it as “the best among all political parties” and called on residents of Kapchorwa and the wider Sebei Sub-region to renew the NRM government’s mandate for another term in office.

He outlined the key achievements of Uganda under NRM leadership, including; Sustained peace and security, Robust infrastructural development, Wealth creation through socioeconomic empowerment initiatives, Job creation via industrialization and commercial agriculture and Regional integration and improved social services

Addressing environmental and land issues, Museveni emphasized the importance of boundary demarcation between the Mt. Elgon wildlife protected area and surrounding communities. He revealed plans to sponsor a benchmark trip to Europe for local leaders to learn about effective land utilization in mountainous regions.

The President also announced cattle restocking programs extending to Sebei and parts of the Bugisu Sub-region, alongside a planned conference with local communities to develop sustainable landslide mitigation strategies.

Underscoring the need for sustainable land use and management in the Elgon region, Museveni said these measures will help prevent natural disasters and promote long-term development.

He also encouraged investment in recreation and the hospitality sector, citing the Joshua Cheptegei Hotel, which he commissioned, as a prime example of wealth and job creation in the area.
