Police Arrest Four for Impersonating First Daughter Natasha on Social Media

By Robert Segawa

Police in Iganga have arrested four men for allegedly impersonating the First Daughter, Natasha Museveni Karugire, by opening TikTok and WhatsApp accounts in her name.

The suspects have been identified as Isabirye Ashiraf, Mulondo Rahman, Egesa Sharif, and Kakaire Zubair. All were arrested from Iganga District.

According to police, the suspects are accused of conning members of the public out of unspecified amounts of money despite having no connection whatsoever to the First Daughter.

Addressing the press on Tuesday at Police Headquarters in Naguru, Police Spokesperson Kituuma Rusoke said police swung into action after receiving reports about the fraudulent accounts.

Rusoke revealed that during searches conducted in the suspects’ areas of operation, police recovered several suspicious SIM cards believed to have been used in the scam.

He appealed to members of the public to remain vigilant, questioning why some people easily trust and send money to unknown individuals who contact them through social media platforms.

“We wonder why people do not cross-check with the Office of the President to establish the truth before wiring money to people they do not know,” Rusoke said.

He cited cases involving transactions for passports, national identity cards, and visas, advising the public to always seek such services from lawful institutions like embassies and authorized government offices.

Police say the suspects will be produced in courts of law as investigations into the matter continue.
