By Our Reporter

The Kira Municipal Council has awarded Uganda Martyrs Nursery and Primary School Namugongo in recognition of its outstanding performance in the 2025 Primary Leaving Examinations (PLE).

The school’s headteacher, Elizabeth Nakayima, expressed gratitude to the council for recognizing their efforts and academic excellence.

Nakayima said the school community was extremely happy and excited about the achievement, noting that 36 candidates sat for the 2025 PLE, with 34 pupils passing in First Grade and one in Second Grade.

“We are very grateful to the leaders of Kira Municipality for recognizing us as one of the best-performing schools in the area,” Nakayima said.

She also thanked God for granting the school wisdom and guidance, emphasizing that the success would not have been possible without divine support.

Nakayima further appreciated the school directors, led by Rev. Fr. Henry Kasasa, for their vision and commitment to the growth of the institution. She also acknowledged Ms. Margaret Lwanga, the School Management Committee, and staff for their continuous support and dedication toward the development of the school.

The award was presented during the 2026/2027 budget laying event held at the Kira Municipal Council offices.

Nakayima called upon parents to enroll their children at the school, noting that vacancies are still available from Baby Class to Primary Seven.

“At Uganda Martyrs Nursery and Primary School Namugongo, we nurture children with strong morals, values, and discipline. Parents who entrust us with their children will never regret it,” she said.

Several other educators were present during the event, including William Bwambale, the headteacher of Kireka Grammar School, along with representatives from other schools who were also recognized for their contributions to education in the municipality.
