Territorial police in Iganga have arrested a 27-year-old teacher in connection with the alleged murder of his wife following a domestic dispute.
The deceased has been identified as Namusobya Jackline (24), while the suspect is Kamya Denis, both residents of Nankoma in Bugiri District.
The incident occurred on March 30, 2026, at around 10:00am in Nampirika B Village, Nakalama Sub-county, Iganga District.

Preliminary findings indicate that the suspect reportedly went to his in-laws’ home in search of his wife. He was received by his mother-in-law, while the deceased was in the kitchen preparing tea. It is alleged that Kamya followed her there and fatally stabbed her.
During the attack, the deceased’s brother, Musobya Paul, attempted to intervene but was also injured, sustaining a stab wound to the left cheek. The suspect is further accused of setting his in-laws’ house on fire before being subdued by an angry mob.
A police Crime Investigation team led by the OC CID visited the scene and recorded statements from witnesses. The body of the deceased was later taken to Iganga Hospital mortuary for a postmortem examination and will subsequently be handed over to the family for burial.
The suspect is currently under police guard at Iganga Hospital, where he is receiving treatment. He is expected to face charges upon recovery.
Police have cautioned the public against taking the law into their own hands and urged individuals facing domestic challenges to seek assistance through probation offices or the Family Protection Unit.
“We implore members of the public to always seek redress where they encounter challenges in marriage,” said Kasadha Micheal.
