Eight Arrested Over TikTok Video Allegedly Linking Gang to Violent Attacks

By Robert Segawa

Old Kampala Police have arrested eight people, including four suspects allegedly featured in a viral TikTok video in which a group is accused of threatening dental practitioners over their failure to give them “kintu kidogo” (something small) after treating victims of alleged attacks.

The arrests followed the circulation of a video on social media showing about six individuals allegedly boasting about attacks carried out against members of the public.

In the video, the individuals allegedly claim to have attacked several people, breaking their jaws and teeth. They further allegedly demand a share of the money earned by dentists treating the victims and threaten medical practitioners who fail to comply.

Following the circulation of the video, police launched an intelligence-led operation on September 8, 2026, at Gojo Gym in Namungona, Lubya Parish, Rubaga Division, Kampala District.

The operation, led by the Deputy Police Commander (DPC) and Criminal Investigations (CI) officers at Old Kampala, resulted in the arrest of eight suspects. Police say four of those arrested are allegedly seen in the viral video.

Preliminary investigations indicate that the suspects allegedly used the gym, under the guise of boxing training, as a meeting point. Police suspect that some of them could be connected to violent criminal activities, including robbery, housebreaking, theft, phone snatching, use of deadly weapons and unlawful possession of narcotic substances.

According to Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson Racheal Kawala, the suspects arrested are:

  • Matiti Mohammed, also known as Beast-Commander
  • Nurudin Kasule, also known as 2 I/C
  • Umar Mubiru
  • Lukooya Adams
  • Kiyimba Martin
  • Alinda Yosam Junior
  • Walumu James
  • Elvis Simanya

Kawala said the last four suspects were reportedly found at the gym, with some allegedly found in possession of substances suspected to be narcotics.

The suspects are currently being held at Old Kampala Police Station pending court proceedings.

Police are continuing with investigations to identify and arrest other individuals allegedly seen in the viral video and establish their possible involvement in the reported criminal activities.

Members of the public have been urged to provide police with any information that could assist in identifying other suspects or victims linked to the alleged incidents.

The case file is expected to be forwarded to the Resident State Attorney for legal advice as police continue with the hunt for other suspects.
