Opposition Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) party deputy Secretary General Harold Kaija has called for the unconditional release of their greater masaka leaders who have been in detention for a week now.
According to the press statement signed by Kaija On Saturday 12th December, 2020, Kyazanga Police arrested and detained designated FDC leaders in Greater Masaka Justin Juuko and Garry Paul Mayanja, who were on official assignment of identifying and training Polling Agents in Kyazanga town council.

“The two were later handed over to Mbirizi Police Station and they have been missing for a week. Mbirizi Police cannot account for Juuko and Mayanja. The FDC is unaware of the detention facility of it’s staff arrested on official duty.
Since Juuko and Mayanja are held incommunicado, the party unable to extend welfare, legal and medical attention for a week.
FDC strongly protests the arrest and illegal detention of our party officials, and condemn the involvement of Uganda Police in undermining legal and legitimate FDC activities of identifying and training Polling Agents.
We demand that the Police must desist from interfering with political activities of political parties and organizations, and not least, urge the Electoral Commission to reclaim its mandate of protecting the Electoral process from interference by security agencies.” Kaija’s statement read in parts.
