The presiding Bishop for the Evangelical Orthodox Church (EOC) in Uganda Jacinto Kibuuka has advised city dwellers not to go to villages for Christmas and New Year’s celebrations.
While delivering his Christmas message at Mamre International Prayer Center, in Namugongo Janda, Bishop Kibuuka cautioned public against taking Covid19 as unserious since it exists and apparently so much in communities.
“As we prepare to celebrate the birth of our Lord Jesus Christ, I urge you all to protect yourselves from getting COVID19 by following the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and not to politicize it because it’s real and kills.
Iam requesting those living in town not to go to villages for Christmas and vice versa but instead send them money for Christmas to avoid the spread of Covid 19” said Bishop Kibuuka
Bishop Kibuuka also cautioned the public, politician and security agencies against engaging in acts of political violence and fueling the same especially in this electoral period.
“This nation is for all of us, when we destroy it our children will judge us harshly even us, shall have us to blame. Let’s meditate on where we have come from, where we are and where we are going since keeping peace is a personal obligation and responsibility.
Those who abuse, attack, beat the security personnel and security personnel who harshly beat, teargas and torture people for nothing you are all wrong.
We should embrace and love one another, respect each other, advocate for peace irrespective of our political feelings as opposed to fighting, abusing, use of excessive force and killing one another because it is also condemned by God.” Said Bishop Kibuuka
He wished everyone a merry Christmas and a prosperous new year filled with God’s blessings and favor.
