Orthodox Church Archbishop Makarios of Nairobi has on Friday morning arrived in the country ahead of the late Archbishop of Kampala and All of Uganda Metropolitan Jonah Lwanga’s body repatriation from Greece and subsequent burial Monday.
Archbishop Makarios of Nairobi was received by His Grace Bishop Silvestros Kisitu of Gulu and Eastern Uganda.

Archbishop Makarios as a caretaker of the Holy Metropolis of Kampala will preside over the burial ceremony of the Late Metropolitan Jonah Lwanga whose body will arrive at Entebbe international Airport on Saturday morning.
Upon reaching at the Orthodox Church headquarters in Namungoona, Archbishop Makarios held an afternoon a memorial Liturgy service for the deceased prelate.

In his homily, the Archbishop emphasized the virtue of love. He eulogized the late metropolitan Jonah as a loving, hard-working man, who loved his Church so much and fighter of social justice.
The late Metropolitan Jonah Lwanga breathed his last on Sunday, 5th, September from Athens capital city of Greece, where he had been hospitalized after being diagnosed with Carcinoma Cancer.
