Ali Braces for Fia Junior continental win

Mohammed Ali Ahmed is bracing for continental glory in the African FIA junior rally showpiece due 27 th -29 th May 2022 at Zwartkops Raceway Pretoria South Africa.

The 19 year old student of Agakhan High School is representing Uganda having defeated seven other competitors in a digital challenge organized by Federation of Motorsports clubs of Uganda in partnership with FIA early this month.

In an exclusively interview with Trusted News, Ali reveals that being a champion in Uganda is good but not enough.

“My vision is to win the continental title so that am drafted in the World Rally Championship program”.

“It’s a good thing to train with WRC because one gets the best exposure”, explained Ali.

The FIA Rally Star Training Season brings together 38 junior candidates from 11 African countries including among others; Uganda, Botswana, Ivory Coast, Kenya, Madagascar, Rwanda, Tanzania, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Mozambique and hosts, South Africa.

The top four drivers in this important competition get a chance to be part of the FIA Junior WRC championship in 2024.It’s a program designed for 18-26 year olds.

Ali who has been taking part in Autocross events, is son to 2008 Uganda National Rally Champion Dr. Ashraf Ahmed.

Competition is ripe with 31 males and 7 females fighting for the biggest accolade.

The reserved student is expected to depart for South Africa on Wednesday or Thursday this week and the delegation includes his parents.
