Opposition political party Justice Forum also known as JEEMA has advised NUP, another political party to start investing in building its own leaders as opposed to poaching from fellow opposition political parties.
The call follows a one Lunkuse Rose who was carrying JEEMA ticket for the guild race at Muteesa I Royal University, jumping ship over the Kamwokya based National Unity Platform NUP political party after its candidate Mugwanya Henry failed to nominate.
It’s alleged that Lunkuse was promised goodies to carry NUP flag in the elections and if she failed they would decampaign her in favor of the NRM candidate.
According to the Head of Institutions in JEEMA, Abdalla Tiff Mukasa, he say “NUP should start investing in grooming and nurturing its own leaders if they really have an agenda for this country.” “I thought this business of riding on other parties’ candidates stopped at parliamentary elections, One day they will even snatch Mr. Museveni from the NRM if they are not careful.” He added.
JEEMA party spokesperson, Mr. kyamundu Ssentogo says NUP should have at least the most basic common sense in its political journey. Adding that NUP is more like the regime they are fighting because they have a lot in common. “As Museveni is stealing from other parties NUP is equally doing the same.”
JEEMA however revealed that they will not front another candidate in the ongoing guild elections at Muteesa because they need time to prepare and plan.
The Head of Institutions Abdalla Tiff intimated to this News site that they cannot hand pick candidates. ‘’Unlike other parties, JEEMA tickets have conditions, for someone to lift our flag, you must be able to represent what we stand for as a party, our flag comes with morals and strong values. Said Abdalla Tiff.
Muteesa I Royal University will elect guild leadership on 12th May 2023.
