By Hannah Marion Namukasa

The Central Police Station Kampala has made significant progress in the investigation of the aggravated robbery incident involving Mr. Mugisha Tomson, aged 40. Today, they successfully apprehended Mugisa Derrick, alias Musota, a key suspect in the case, near Nakivubo Channel in the city center.

According to police reports, Mugisa Derrick is believed to be the individual responsible for delivering the vicious kick that rendered Mr. Tomson unconscious during the robbery, which was captured on CCTV footage. Mugisa has reportedly confessed to his involvement in both the assault and the robbery.

Mugisa Derrick’s arrest adds to the two other suspects already in custody: Senyonjo Peter, known as Kakima, and Nuur Lweyama, alias Mu TZ, hailing from Tanzania. All three suspects have admitted to carrying out the robbery under the instructions of another individual, whose identity is currently under investigation.

Speaking on behalf of the Kampala Metropolitan Police, ASP Luke Owoyesigyire, Deputy Public Relations Officer, stated that the suspects will undergo further processing as investigations continue. Once the investigative process is complete, they will be presented in court to face charges related to their alleged involvement in the robbery.

The apprehension of Mugisa Derrick marks a significant breakthrough in the case, bringing investigators closer to unraveling the full details of the robbery and ensuring justice for the victim, Mr. Mugisha Tomson.
